GratiTuesday - The Jiggle Man

On Saturday we had to run an errand in the Triangle, so we made a family day out of it.  We ended up having a late lunch at Champp's (with my Mother's Day discount card) in Southpoint Mall, and afterwards we walked around a bit.  The kids love to go there.  There are often live musicians and performers of all types.

Both kids were particularly enthralled with this man.  He first juggled balls, then moved on to flaming torches.

The finale was particularly amazing.  He stood on a board balanced on two ladders.  On top of the board was a skateboard, and he juggled three things: a ball, a knife, and a flaming torch.   It was quite a show!

As we walked away, my Little Man said that he liked the Jiggle Man.  It took a few seconds to figure out that he meant the juggler.  He continued to ask questions about the Jiggle Man, while all of us tried hard not to laugh at his earnest questions.

Finally, he asked, "Mommy, do you think he went to Jiggle School?"  We couldn't help it - we all cracked up.  His sweet face looked confused at us, and we quickly told him that we weren't sure.

My Little Man was amazed to learn that his daddy went to school where they taught jiggling, though, and that he could teach him.  I'm sure they won't wait too long to begin.

I love that Southpoint has so much fun and free entertainment.  While the mall itself is not cheap, walking around and taking it all in is - and there's always something fun to see.

I love going out with my family.  I'm grateful for the places in the Triangle that are fun and inexpensive to visit.  Most of all, though, I love the innocence of my son - the sweet way that he mixes up words, they way that he tilts his head up to ask questions, the way that his curious mind plugs new information into what he already knows of the world.  I love his excitement when he realized that his daddy knows how to jiggle.  His eyes pop wide with wonder and he readily shows his enthusiasm.  He hasn't grown jaded or cynical with this life, but he still delights in the unexpected and finds joy in the simple.

I'm grateful for my son - who reminds me to find joy in what God gives every day.  The splash of water, the toss of a penny, the quick hands of the jiggle man, the giggle of a small boy - all are blessings.

What are you grateful for today?
